Homemade Smoke Cherry BBQ Sauce

3lbs sweet cherries
1 cup onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup apple cider vinegar
ยพ cup honey
3 tsp salt
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp liquid smoke
2 tsp chili powder
1-2 tsp cayenne powder
Instructions:
Rinse and pit cherries. Transfer them to the pot. Add garlic and onion and add them to the pot. Add remaining ingredients and stir well.
Boil for 15 minutes over medium-low heat. Remove the lid and cook for 20 to 25 minutes until thickened.
Transfer the mixture to the food processor and pulse until smooth.
Return to low heat and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
Pour the sauce into hot jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Attach lids and rings. Process for 5 minutes in a boiling-water canner.
Remove the jars to a towel-lined surface to cool without moving for 24 hours.
Store in a cool, dark place for 1 to 1 1/2 years.
