Serving Suggestions:
Berry Beautiful: Top with a handful of fresh berries (like strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries), a dusting of powdered sugar, and a drizzle of maple syrup or honey. The vibrant berries contrast beautifully with the green toast!
Whipped & Wonderful: Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or coconut whipped cream, a sprinkle of matcha powder, and toasted coconut flakes for a tropical brunch vibe.
Elegant & Earthy: Plate with a scoop of vanilla or matcha ice cream, a light drizzle of black sesame syrup or sweetened condensed milk, and a few edible flowers for a dessert-like twist.
Helpful Tips:
Sift Your Matcha: Before adding it to your egg mixture, sift the matcha powder to avoid clumps and get a smoother, more even flavor and color throughout your toast.
Use Thick, Sturdy Bread: Brioche, challah, or Texas toast work best. Let it dry out a bit or use day-old bread so it soaks up the matcha custard without falling apart.
Don’t Rush the Soak: Let each slice sit in the matcha custard for at least 20–30 seconds per side (or longer for thicker slices) to absorb all that flavor—rushing this step leads to dry toast!
