Churro Apple Pie

Ingredients:
Apple Filling:
6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
½ cup granulated sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Churro Topping: ½ cup unsalted butter ¼ tsp salt
1 cup water
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375° F.
Grease a pie dish and set aside.
Add the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to a bowl and mix well.
Toss until coated.
Pour the apple filling into the prepared pie dish.
Add butter to the saucepan and heat it.
Add salt and water and boil it. Lower the heat.
Add all-purpose flour and stir well.
Remove the dough from the heat.
Allow it to cool for 5 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
Then, add vanilla extract and stir well.
Transfer the churro dough to a Churro Maker with churro tip.
Press strips of dough across the top of the apple filling. Place it into the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
Prepare the cinnamon sugar coating: Add the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl and mix well.
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool.
Coat the churro topping with cinnamon mixture.
Serve the Churro apple pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
